Tropenmuseum

From South American temples to Arabian coffeehouses, from 17th Century plantations to a modern-day metropolis, the Tropenmuseum takes you criss-cross around the world. It offers a cultural cocktail from past to present, from north to south and from high art and culture to everyday objects. The collection of the Tropenmuseum contains more than 300.000 exotic objects and historical photos.

You can try to see the entire museum. It is an ambitious plan, but it is possible. In that case, it is best to start on the second floor and move downwards. You can also choose to take a close look at a couple of departments. That will give you more time to see and take part in the audiovisual and multimedia programmes, which are full of information. Downstairs in the magnificent light hall, which is a must-see, there is usually a large temporary exhibition.
