Het Scheepvaartmuseum, The National Maritime Museum

Holland is much more than the land behind the dikes. Many of our prosperity, culture and identity, we owe precisely to people who saw the sea as a chance go out and moved. The National Maritime Museum tells that story. Fascinating, interactive exhibits show 500 years of maritime history. There are special exhibitions for children, like the Golden Age and The story of the whale.

There is also a performance for children under 6 years: Mat & Rosalie and Circus. Nobody is too old for the thrilling attraction that is located outside the voyage and of course the famous replica of the VOC ship Amsterdam. The National Maritime Museum has been completely renovated but it kept it’s history and it’s a beautiful building in the heart of Amsterdam. Everyone is welcome to enjoy the building: the spectacular indoor Open Pleyn is freely available and in their restaurant Stalpaert you can eat and drink your honest wonderfuland.
